Goedverwacht Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2001

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with a complex bouquet of ripe berry and blackcurrent fruit. The fruit carries through beautifully on the palate, balanced by a hint of oak, good firm tannins ensures that this remains an uncomplicated wine.

National Young Wine Show 2001 - Silver Medal
in the vineyard : Goedverwacht, situated in the Bonnievale Wine of Origin area which falls within the Robertson District in the Breede River Valley, is owned by vintner Jan du Toit. The Estate has approximately 100 hectares under vines, producing in the region of 11 000 liters per hectare. This is substantially lower than the capability of the vines, but Jan believes that this is part of the estates success.

Terroir: South sloping limy sandstone.

about the harvest: Harvesting starts in mid-January and only early in the morning while it is still cool. This factor combined with climate, vine and the watchful eye of the vinter has resulted in wines winelovers love, share and talk about.
