Morgenster Cabernet Franc 2015

Colour: Deep ruby purple, with a beautiful youthful hue.
Nose: Some classical Cabernet franc traits are already evident in the lush cassis concentrated fruit and cinnamon, with peanut and clove like spice also playing a part.
Palate: A delicious example of young Cabernet franc. Rich red fruit flavours abound; black currants, cherries and plums. Undertones of warm spice and tobacco.

Apart from being lovely on its own, this is a food friendly wine, pairing well with chicken, pork and beef roasts, hearty fish dishes and will offer pleasure with the cheese course too.

2018 Cab Franc Challenge - one of Top 6 Cabernet Francs

The Morgenster single varietal range is made in an accessible fruit driven style to enhance the unique varietal characteristics that the Morgenster terroir lends to these popular grapes. The wines in this range offer consumers interesting insights into the dynamics of blending by showcasing each grape’s unique contribution before grapes from mature vineyards go into the Estate’s prized blends.
While Morgenster Cabernet Franc 2015 was made to be enjoyed soon, it is still a Morgenster wine with typical traits like velvety soft tannins which broaden palate weight and add an extra dimension to a very fruit driven experience.

in the vineyard : This was the earliest start to any season in in more than 40 years. Budding was earlier, so too were flowering and grape set caused by a warmer November and December. It was also quite dry, with November 2014 being the last nice wet spell. What seemed like an unpredictable harvest delivered good surprises with the 2015 wines showing great quality
