The Morgenster single varietal range is made in an accessible fruit driven style to enhance the unique varietal characteristics that the Morgenster terroir lends to these popular grapes. The wines in this range offer consumers interesting insights into the dynamics of blending by showcasing each grape’s unique contribution before grapes from mature vineyards go into the Estate’s prized blends.

While Morgenster Merlot 2014 was made to be enjoyed soon, it is still a Morgenster wine with typical traits like velvety soft tannins which broaden palate weight and add an extra dimension to a very fruit driven experience.

in the vineyard : Record rains in August and November 2013 were followed by normal summer temperatures and really cold evenings. A nice pre-harvest rain in January lifted the freshness of the vines with further sprinklings throughout harvest. With an early ripening we could take off our grapes before the big rains at the beginning of April.

in the cellar : Barrel matured for 12 months
