Backsberg Tread Lightly Pinotage Rosé 2018

Red fruit aromas of raspberry and strawberry give way to a hint of fresh rose petals. Lightly tinted from red grape skins, this pale rosé is delicately fruity and juicy on the palate. Low in tannins, it exhibits flavours of watermelon, strawberry and rose-hip.

Best paired with summer salads, fresh shellfish dishes, as well as soft cheeses and charcuterie platters.

in the vineyard : There’s a saying that good wine is made in the vineyard. Year round, Tread Lightly vineyards are tended to by a team of predominant-ly women. Relying strongly on sustainable farming techniques, the team treats vineyards as gently as possible to yield clean, healthy fruit.
in the cellar : This wine has been made carefully, with the light touch of a patient gardener. Healthy, sustainably grown Pinotage grapes have been hand-selected to create this generous wine with refreshing acidity.

Bottled in lightweight glass, weighing only 455g per bottle, and labelled with Tree Free Paper produced from 5% hemp and linen and 95% recycled sugarcane waste, this wine is certified carbon neutral.

Upon arrival in the cellar, Pinotage grapes are crushed, gently pressed and fermented in 100% stainless steel tanks. Winemaker Alicia Rechner is an expert at coaxing out the most alluring aromas naturally present in wine grapes and takes great care to retain the wine’s delicate character.
