Wide River Reserve Noble Late Harvest 2001

5 Stars - John Platter 2005
Veritas 2002 - Double Gold

A rich, full nose of almonds and honey, with a lingering aftertaste of dried apricots. On the palate, the wine is delicate but concentrated and extremely well balanced with a racy fresh acidity and a long lingering finish.

Enjoy as an aperitif, dip your biscotti in it or finish off a good meal with a fresh fruit based dessert.

Veritas 2001 - Silver

ageing : 3-5 years.

in the vineyard : The fruit was sourced from a single vineyard on the farm Almond Grove in the Robertson Valley. Riesling grapes were left on the vine for an extended period.

about the harvest: The first grapes of the 2001 harvest were harvested on the first of February. Fully botrytised grapes were harvested at 36º Balling. Quality of the grapes harvested, especially the red varieties, was of an exceptional high standard. This is due to a dry season characterized by stable temperatures that developed healthy grapes and eventually even ripening with good sugars.
Yield (ton/ha): 3 Tons.

in the cellar : The grapes were harvested from a carefully managed vineyard. Gentle pressing on the fully botrytised grapes resulted in a yield of only 300 litres per ton.
