in the vineyard : The fruit was sourced from a single vineyard on the Retreat farm. Vines are grown in deep dry alluvial sand that is rich in lime and receives a very low annual rainfall.

about the harvest: Grapes at full ripeness were hand picked during the early hours of the morning. Quality of the grapes harvested, especially the red varieties, was of an exceptional high standard. This is due to a dry season characterized by stable temperatures that developed healthy grapes and eventually even ripening with good sugars.
Yield (ton/ha): 8 Tons.

in the cellar : The wine was harvested at optimum flavour from a single vineyard. The fruit was kept separate and cooled down for seven days before fermentation started. By using reductive vinification in small stainless steel tanks our winemaker succeeded to capture the natural flavours of the grape.
