Lightning was the Kruger National Park's most famous painted wolf. The alpha male of the Skukuza Pack, with his signature lightning flash on his left side, he was easily identifiable and beloved by researchers as the quintessential African wild dog.

Painted Wolf Wines supports the conservation of the highly endangered painted wolf and the protection of the diminishing wild spaces of Africa, through its donations to the EWT and Tusk.

in the vineyard : The Sauvignon Blanc grapes came from the beautiful Vaalvlei and Stonefields vineyards in Stanford, which are close to the ocean and have decomposed granite soil. The Semillon is from La Vierge in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.

in the cellar : The Sauvignon Blanc was settled and fermented in a mixture of eggs, old wood and stainless steel. Semillon was fermented in stainless and spent 6 months on lees in an egg. Ten percent of the wines is made up from Lightning 2020 which spent 18 months on lees in barrel.
