Bosman Generation 8 Merlot 2022

A true classic. A medium-bodied wine with an appealing bouquet of ripe cherries and mulberries, followed through with hints of earthiness and plums. A wine packed with red fruit and a lingering aftertaste.

A good partner to a range of tomato-based dishes, roast chicken and creamy mushroom steak or stews.

The Bosman family have a history of growing wine in the Bovlei of Wellington, dating back to 1810. Through eight generations they have worked hard to create a better life for all who live and work on the farm, rising to challenges and finding solutions, often in the unexpected.

Their approach is progressive and innovative: a plant improvement unit ensures that Bosman remains at the forefront of the development of new, clean plant material and varietals; while their vine nursery ensures a continuous supply of healthy rootstock and vines.

The business model is both holistic and inclusive, fostering self-worth and investing in the potential of everyone. Faith, Hope & Love is the Bosman family motto, and it is a philosophy which the extended farm family live by every single day.

in the cellar : Grapes are harvested and destemmed before fermentation occurs. Regular pump-overs ensure good colour extraction and a gentle pressing results in tannin expression that is fine and subtle. A portion of the wine is matured in new French oak for 6 months to create a complex wine with supple tannins.
