Not the archetypal Cabernet Sauvignon due to the omittance of oak barrel ageing, this wine is extremely expressive with aromatics of blackcurrant, violets, and green tobacco leaf while the palate is particularly vivid and energetic – lovely pure fruit to go with a great line of acidity and fine, dry tannins.

in the vineyard : Situated at 250m above sea-level on the slopes of the Helderberg and very close to False Bay’s restless Atlantic Ocean, this vineyard has a panoramic view of Stellenbosch and even Table Mountain on a cloudless day. The vineyard was selected for its ability to grow grapes offering a superior expression of the site’s unique geography. The focus was on maintaining fruit-purity and truest reflection of provenance in one of the world’s greatest red wine varieties.
in the cellar : The fermentation took place in traditional concrete open top fermenters. These fermentes are particularly well-suited to producing top quality Cabernet Sauvignon owing to the fact that it provides a larger workable surface for optimum tannin extraction and introduces healthy amounts of oxygen into the fermentation at all stages.

After fermentation the wine was drawn off the skins overnight, allowing the very last drops of deeply concentrated wine to leech out of the berries and into Italian Terracotta Amphorae. The wine spent a further 7 months maturing, allowing depth of flavour and a commanding presence, while preserving the brightness and life-affirming vigour of an expressive red wine.
