Grangehurst Nikela 1999

“Nikela”- an African word meaning “to offer dedication, respect or a tribute to one’s ancestors”- is the name chosen by winemaker Jeremy Walker for this wine, which is dedicated to his late parents, Eddie and Betty, who contributed greatly to the establishment of Grangehurst. A medium-bodied, elegant barrel-matured red wine.

in the cellar : The wine is a “Cape Pinotage Blend” of Cabernet Sauvignon (53%), Pinotage (32%) and Merlot (15%). Matured in 66 barrels – 74% French and 26% American oak – for 24 months. After blending, the wines spent a year in a stainless steel tank before being bottled.
