The wine is deep purple in colour. Inviting plum and mulberry flavours on the nose and palate are complemented by oak flavours to add to the fullness. A rich, complex wine with a soft, velvety entry, firm structure and lingering aftertaste.

in the vineyard : Trellised, 6-year-old vines planted against southeast-facing slopes yielded the grapes for this wine. The vines received supplementary drip irrigation and produced 8 tons per hectare.

about the harvest: Harvest Date: End of March 2002.

in the cellar : The grapes were picked at 25° Balling and underwent three days of cold maceration. Fermentation on the skins was complete after 10 days and this was followed by pressing and inoculation for malolactic fermentation. A portion of the wine was matured for 11 months in 2nd and 3rd-fill French and American oak barrels.
Cases produced: 3 279 x 12 bottle cases.
