Nederburg Cabernet Sauvignon/Shiraz 2001

The colour is red with youthful garnet and the flavour shows up-front fruit, strong berry Cabernet Sauvignon characteristics with spice, cinnamon and elegant leathery Shiraz fingerprints. It is well rounded on the palate with firm wood imparted tannins and soft vanilla. The wine was matured for 12 months in 300 litre barrels and large oak vats. It is well-balanced with a long and pleasant finish. Enjoy this wine with roast of lamb, coq au vin, red meat, steak, venison mature cheese, pizza and pasta dishes.

in the cellar : This wine, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz, was first produced in 1973 and was introduced as a lighter blend in the Nederburg red wine stable. Over the years the blend was changed and with the arrival of the new Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz clones, which were planted in selected cooler locations, we now have a wine made in a modern style which brings together the outstanding features of these two noble varieties.
