in the vineyard : Soil: Grown on the decomposed granite soils on the cooler foothills of the Paardeberg and on medium potential soils with a gravel under layer on the western side of the region. Both areas are very well suited for this delicate cultivar.
Climate: The Swartland falls within the coastal winter rainfall area. Warm, dry summers, moderated by cool Atlantic breezes.
Annual rainfall: 400mm average.

about the harvest: Low production of 7 to 8 ton/ha from unirrigated bushvines. Grapes are hand harvested at early ripeness with a low sugar, but with the acidity in balance.
