Nose: Ripe red fruits - plums, cherries and redcurrants - supported by subtle wood flavours and a hint of vanilla.
Palate: An explosion of primary fruit: blackcurrants, cherries and raspberries, riding on zesty acidity and soft, accessible tannin. Big-bodied, with a pleasing layered structure of fruit over aromatic oak and spiciness. Impressive length and complexity in the finish.
This wine will complement stronger, savoury meat dishes: venison, duck and rich beef casseroles. The fruit would dominate lighter meals, but could complement desserts based on dark chocolate and berries.
