in the vineyard : The trellised vines are grown at an altitude of 220 metres above sea-level in a variety of soil types, which are under drip irrigation. The vines are grafted onto nematode-resistant Richter 99 and 110 rootstocks. Winter pruning was to two spurs and these south-facing vineyards yielded a low 6 tons per hectare.

about the harvest: The grapes were hand-harvested in mid-February at 24,6° Balling.

in the cellar : The grapes received two hours skin contact before the clear juice was inoculated with yeast strain D47. Fermentation took place at 18°C in 300 litre French oak barrels, which took 11 days to complete. After fermentation the wine was left on the lees for 7 months. Bottling took place in November 2002.
