Zevenwacht Zevenrood 2002

A pleasantly quaffable wine, the Zevenwacht Zevenrood is unbelievably good value for money. It has a distinctive nose backed by a subtle bouquet of barrel maturation. Youthfully bright in colour, the wine is smooth and fruity on the palate.

in the vineyard : The grapes for this blended wine come from vineyards situated on the lower slopes of the farm. A clay sub-soil retains essential moisture and a gravelly topsoil allows for effective drainage.

in the cellar : This wine is a blend of the following grapes, 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Shiraz. Contributing backbone and fullness respectively, the Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz components of the wine spent four months in oak barrels. Thereafter the wine was blended and aged in third and fourth fill barrels for a further 6 months.
