Stellenrust Shiraz 2005

Lots of jammy pepper spice on the nose - full palate filled with a distinct creaminess - well rounded tannins with generous mouthfeel and lingering aftertaste. Classical black olives on pallet distinct to Shiraz from the Helderberg Golden Triangle. Aged 18 months a on mixture of 80% French and 20% American oak. There is a high concentration of ripe jammy fruit on the midpalate complimented by peppery spice and a long finish of black olives. On the nose, the Shiraz spice is more evident and fruit flavours carried forward onto the palate. This is not a robust Shiraz, but more of an elegant styled wine focussed on fruit and craftmenship in tannin control and balance.
