The wine is named The Mackenzie in recognition of the family of the late Ken Mackenzie who have been responsible for the regeneration of Hartenberg, its vineyards, its wines and its community since his purchase of the Estate in 1986.

in the vineyard : This limited volume wine represents a vineyard parcel selection of the very best Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot planted on rich, deep red Tukulu soils. The Cabernet Sauvignon is planted on the deeper, upper slopes and the Merlot in the lower clay rich, moisture retaining part of the slopes.

about the harvest: The Cabernet Sauvignon was picked on taste on the 16th, 17th and 18th of March. The Merlot was picked on taste on March 8th.
