Painted Wolf Pinotage 2008

An intense, individual and robust wine packed with flavours of ripe summer berries and creamy vanilla with evident ripe tannins and a long lingering finish.

Pinotage is the red wine for lovers of spicy cuisine. South and East Asian meat dishes such as lamb curries or Chinese barbecued pork go well, as do Mexican and Tex Mex dishes such as chilli con carne.

ageing : This wine is delicious now, however the peak time to drink this wine will be between 2009 and 2012.

in the vineyard : Pinotage grapes were sourced from three separate non irrigated vineyards in Malmesbury, Paarl and Stellenbosch. Vines at both the Paarl and Stellenbosch sites are over 30 years old whilst the Malmesbury site is in third fruit. Yields are between 6 and 7.5 tons to the hectare. The 10% Cabernet Sauvignon which finishes this wine is from a vineyard on the side of Paarl Mountain.

about the harvest: The grapes were hand picked into small baskets.
