Zandvliet Equus Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot/Shiraz 1999

Intense, dense red colour. Sweet, layered fruit aromas of berries, plums, chocolate and vanilla. At this stage the concentrated fruit flavours with their sweet, delicious entry to the palate, suggest that the nose of this wine is still closed. Surprisingly soft and smooth, yet firm with well-integrated components. Ripe tannins and great fruit intensity makes this wine drinkable even at this early stage. Will benefit from a few months bottle maturation.
Enjoy as a wine experience or with curries, red meats and veal.

This blend of the three noble varieties growing in the kalkveld of Zandvliet, is a New World style of wine showing all the attributes of youth, intense concentration and intensity of colour, aroma and taste and above all, leaving the footprints of the kalkveld terroir on your palate. This wine is the culmination of years of intensive vineyard management to produce exceptional fruit, and innovative cellaring.

Cellaring
A combination of unoaked wine and wine barrel aged for 12 months in new French oak. A balance of “upfront” fruit, concentrated vanilla and yet smoothness and roundness with a lasting palate was our aim.
