Platter Guide: 4 Stars
in the vineyard : The 1.8 hectares of Sangiovese on Morgenster are maturing and fulfilling their earlier promise of producing excellent Italian wines according to owner Giulio Bertrand’s dream of making wine from the Italian varieties of his native home. By combining Sangiovese with traditional Bordeaux grapes, wines called Super Tuscan are produced.

With Bertrand's naming of the wines in his Italian Collection according to his favourite operas and singer, it was inevitable that this blend would be called Tosca. This wine is similar to the maiden release in 2006, with the addition of a small dot of Petit Verdot.

Following good winter rains, cooler temperatures delayed bud break and eventually harvest. This had good consequences for the wines as they produced great depth of fruit and elegant structures. 2008 will be remembered for its elegant wines.
