This rich, complex variety is especially suited for the Mediterranean climate of the Paarl area with its shale and duplex soil. This is proven by Boland Shiraz being twice awarded the Best Shiraz in the World at the International Wine & Spirits Competition for the '98 and '00 vintages. With a rich, intense colour, full bodied with spicy aromas and plum extracts, backed by hints of eucalyptus and a lingering aftertaste this wine is ideal for red meat dishes.
