Deep purple, inky hues characterise this wine. The aromas are initially savoury and meaty, developing into a very concentrated and complex perfume with prominent spicy notes of cloves, cinnamon and violets. The palate entry exhibits tremendous concentration of flavour and has gratifying length.

in the vineyard : The heat wave that began in February 2009 caused rapid sugar ripeness, so judicious irrigation regimes had to be implemented in order to maintain a healthy canopy during the late ripening period. A cool spring and early summer made for an excellent vintage, particularly for the early-ripening varieties.

in the cellar : The Syrah grapes were naturally fermented with aerated pump-overs, followed by 1 week extended maceration and Malolactic Fermentation (MLF) in oak barrels.
