Steenberg H.M.S. Echo Red Blend 2010

An elegant wine with flavours of blackcurrants and aniseed on the nose with a hint of dark chocolate and cigar box. On the palate the wine shows firm tannins and good structure. Smooth and  voluptuous with flavours of dark chocolate, cassis and cedar oak on the palate.

in the cellar : Each variety was fermented separately, on the skins, for about 14 days. Pump overs were done three times a day to extract colour and tannin. After fermentation the wines were racked into small French oak barrels - a combination of second and third fill - undergoing malolactic fermentation, then aged for 12 months. The wines were then racked, blended together and returned to barrel for another 6 months. A light egg white fining was done before bottling.
