Abundant bouquet of blueberries and black cherries with a spicy nutmeg sheen too. Succulent ripe rich entry which is immediately rewarding and generous. Oodles of ripe blackberry fruits which are supported, rather than dominated, by oak. Supple and lithe with leashed power. Balanced, elegant and refined this is a superbly classy wine ,with silky integrated tannins and textured mouthfeel. Attractive long aftertaste which lingers.

in the vineyard : The Sangiovese vineyard is situated on a warmer site where afternoon sea breezes cool the vines. Some green harvesting is done in the late season. The vig or and size of bunches, which tend to be big, are managed constantly. The Merlot is from a different farm, which ripens at the same time as the Sangiovese.

in the cellar : The Merlot and Sangiovese grapes were sorted together, on a double sorting table, the berries went straight into tank without crushing. The grapes were cold soaked for 8 days. After fermentation and some maceration, the wine was transferred into 400l French oak for malolactic fermentation. The wine was aged in 400l barrels for 20 months, an d the bo ttled wine wa s ag ed for a further 12 months before being released.
