Bilton Sir Percy 2009

Deep, intense granite red in colour. Hints of aromatics on the nose, wild red berries, roasted dark coffee beans, black olives, rhubarb, together with an earthy characteristic reminisce of dark dried mushrooms. On the palate the earthy forest floor comes to the fore accompanied by sweet red berries, dark chocolates, truffles yet remains masculine in structure. The finish has a long, lingering well balanced, classic aftertaste.

General
The wine is strong and big in structure. Unique with aromas of tobacco and tomato leaves, dark olives and a degree of meatiness. This wine has sufficient structure to endure.

Continuing the tradition of the “Hat” series this year’s back label has a “GENTLEMAN RACER HAT”: Sir Percival Bilton had a penchant for speed. He enjoyed the prime of his life just as the most glamorous era in motor sports began, and he could be found behind the wheel or supporting his son Donald from the pits. He was captivated by the allure of the race track, the thrill of high speed cornering and the rush down the straights. Bilton Wines has honoured his dynamism with a rich classic blend that is as unique in character as the great man Sir Percy himself.
