Leopards Leap Merlot 2014

Wine Style: A medium to full bodied, red fruit-driven wine made in a New World style.  Nose: Prominent red fruit aromas of dark cherry and candied berry with subtle hints of liquorice and clove. Palate: Elegant and well-structured with sumptuous tannins that create a memorable aftertaste that lingers.

Enjoy this Merlot with dishes that contain roasted tomatoes, duck, beef bourguignon and for the more adventurous serve with dark chocolate desserts.

about the harvest: Picked at optimal fruit ripeness.

in the cellar : 

The grapes were cold-soaked for 24 hours and then fermented at 28°C with regular pump-overs and punch-downs. 

40% of this wine was matured in 225-litre French oak barrels for a period of 12 months. The balance was oak staved for 6 months with added micro-oxygenation.
