in the cellar : Nederburg Blanquette Cap Classique de Chardonnay represents our very first venture into bottle fermentation. The name means Nederburg sparkling white wine was bottle-fermented from Chardonnay. It is unpretentious and a tribute to those original exponents of the Méthode Champenoise, the French.
Nederburg chose Chardonnay because it is only from the white of whites that the consistently light, clear colour and the elegance, freshness and subtle, tantalising flavours epitomised by Nederburg Blanquette can be obtained. The Chardonnay grape lends itself naturally to wood maturation. In this case the unique Chardonnay character has been further enhanced by part maturation of the base wine in small wood.
