Simonsig Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot 2014

The wine displays a dark ruby red colour with youthful aromatics of black currant. Subtle notes of fynbos and spice intertwine with the smooth layered tannins ensuring an easy drinkability.

The Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot was released in 1998 as an easy drinking Bordeaux style blend. In keeping with modern trends and embracing the art of living, this wine boasts a contemporary new look and is sealed with a screw cap to eliminate cork taint and capture all the quality straight from the vineyard

in the vineyard : The 2013/2014 growing season will be remembered as one of the wettest seasons, which had two effects on the 2014 harvest. One, it resulted in a bigger crop, especially in Sauvignon Blanc, and two, it bought fungal disease to some varietals. It was a huge challenge for the viticulturist to keep the vineyards healthy and in pristine condition. During the last part of the harvest, continuous rain showers, especially in March, put a strain on the ripening of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Although the 2014 harvest had its unique challenges, it delivered wines with great quality.
