Van Wyk Family Wines Rebecca May 2016

This wine is crafted to express more red fruit (boysenberry and raspberry) flavours and the whole-bunch fermentation lending additional freshness, structure and persistence to the palate. Once the wine opens up, the bouquet shows floral notes of pressed violets and the mouth-filling texture of the medium-bodied palate provides good balance and drinkability. Production only 1650 bottles.

in the vineyard : The Cinsaut is sourced from a vineyard planted in 1995, situated in the Slanghoek Valley of the Breedekloof region. This vineyard is planted in extremely rocky soil, predominantly made up of white river stones. The reflection of light off the stones creates unique ripening conditions for the grapes. The Syrah component is clone SH5 and sourced from the cool-climatic region of Elgin.
