Pro Amico Merlot Shiraz 2011

This wine shows opulent aromas of prunes, black berries and cassis, with an undertone of gun smoke and cigar box. The palate is smooth, integrated with a soft acid finish that complements the structure of the wine. The wine will benefit from ageing, getting better each year.

This wine can be enjoyed with any meat dish, but in particular with sushi, duck, chicken and ostrich.

New wine maker Ronell Wiid said this about the wine:

"2011: plum colour with savoury earthy overtones on the nose; a full, mature, rich middle palate, gentle plummy fruit; the tannins have grip, without being uncomfortable. I think it is a worthy Platter 4* wine."

Platter 2017 comments: Balanced and harmonious blend of Merlot and Shiraz. Shows savoury cured meat flavours, lifted by fresh dark berries.
