in the cellar : Over the past decade Simonsig has replanted Shiraz vineyards with the best new virus free Shiraz clones available. This has led to a dramatic improvement in the quality of the grapes. The vineyards were planted on specially selected sites where Shiraz would achieve optimum quality. A small quantity of the very best of the vintage was selected and finished fermentation in New American Oak barrels where it matured for a furhter 15 months before bottling. The name Merindol is taken from the Malan Coat of Arms.
