in the vineyard : Vergenoegd Wine Estate makes use of the Tinta Barocca grape for the production of their Port which they have been producing since 1986. These twenty four year old vines are grown on the deep rich alluvial soils laid down by the Eerste River in former years.

about the harvest: The grapes were harvested on 07/04/1997 at 24º Balling. Harvesting only takes place when the grapes are fully ripe, to capture as much natural sweetness and flavour in the final wine as possible.

in the cellar : Cooperage: Used Vicard barrels for 24 months.
