in the vineyard : The Drostdy Wine Cellar, located close to the historic town of Tulbagh, was established in 1964, at the foot of the Winterhoek Mountains. The Distell range takes its name from Tulbagh’s old magistrate’s building, De Oude Drostdy, dating back to 1804. A national monument, that overlooks the cellars.

The Chenin blanc/Steen grapes for this wine came from vineyards in the Paarl and Worcester areas planted at 130 to 180 metres above sea level. The vines were planted between 1970 and 1988.

about the harvest: The grapes were picked by hand at 21 Balling. In the cellar the juice was briefly in contact with the skins before it fermented at 13°C for 14 days.
