Villiera Shiraz 2002

The wine displays a deep red colour with loads of ripe fruit and spice on the nose, including pepper, dark berries and vanilla. On the palate it has layers of flavour and finishes elegantly.

ageing : Although drinkable now it should keep for a further 5 years.

in the cellar : The 2002 vintage was an excellent red wine vintage for Villiera with excellent potential for maturation. Our new “bush vine” vineyard was blended with our small block of old “bush vine” Shiraz, to create an intensely flavoured Shiraz in larger quantities than before, malolactic occurred partially in barrel after which it was racked out and blended with the balance. The blend was then racked into a mix of French and American oak barrels (40% new) for a period of 10 months.
