The wine has a rich spicy Shiraz nose with layers of Cabernet berry flavours and subtle fruit tannins on the palate. A generous and rewarding red wine.

in the vineyard : Named after railroad vineyards in Robertson. Shiraz from Robertson, 11 tons per hectare, situated on sunny sites promoting forward fruit characters. Cabernet Sauvignon, producing ± 10 tons per hectare, from Franschhoek and Firgrove.

about the harvest: Harvesting took place from the end of February 2005 to the 3rd week of March 2005.

in the cellar : 100% Fermented on the skins until dry. Thereafter pressed and malolactic fermentation followed in stainless steel tanks with wood staves. Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon were then blended and matured in small French and American oak for 8 months as well as in stave tanks before bottling. The 2nd and 3rd fill oak barrels are from selected coopers.
