This wine is available Internationaly only. The wine has a rich spicy Shiraz nose with layers of Cabernet berry flavours and subtle fruit tannins on the palate. A generous and rewarding red wine.
Railroad vineyards are all home grown Estate fruit. Cabernet Sauvignon producing ± 10 tons per hectare in Franschhoek and Shiraz, 11 tons per hectare situated on sunny sites in Robertson promoting forward fruit characters.
Harvesting took place from the end of February 2006 to the 3rd week of March 2006.
100% fermented on the skins until dry. Thereafter pressed and malolactic fermentation followed in stainless steel tanks with wood staves in them. Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon were then blended and matured in small French and American oak for a further 6 months as well as in stave tanks before bottling. The 2nd and 3rd fill oak barrels are from specific coopers.
