Graham Beck Railroad Red 2006

This wine is available in South Africa only.
This wine is complex, but remains modern and approachable in style with great up-front fruit. The flavour profile includes raspberry-, mulberry-, and some lavender with the traditional spice and cedar flavours. A generous and rewarding red wine.

Enjoy with veal, roast lamb, stews or rich pasta dishes.

in the vineyard :

Railroad vineyards are all home grown. Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot and Petit Verdot coming from our farms in Stellenbosch and Franschhoek and Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Ruby Cabernet on the sunny sites in Robertson, promoting forward fruit characters.

about the harvest:

Harvesting took place from the end of February 2006 to the 3rd week of March 2006.

in the cellar :

100% fermented on the skins until dry. Thereafter pressed and malolactic fermentation followed in stainless steel tanks with wood staves. Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon were then blended and matured in small French and American oak for 6 months as well as in stave tanks before bottling. Merlot was kept unoaked for the forward berry fruit flavours.
