Hartenberg Shiraz 2007

The variety that made Hartenberg famous. Hartenberg is one of the oldest and foremost producers of Shiraz in South Africa spanning some 40+ years.

Saturated deep black-red colour with elegant aromas of spices, violets and berries. The palate is rich and silky with soft ripe tannis that gives structure.

Independent Tasting Note
"The superb 2007 Shiraz has a very intense bouquet of macerated black cherries, black olive, undergrowth and a touch of braised meat. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy, ripe tannins that belie the backbone underneath. It gains volume in the mouth with layers of ripe plum, blackberry and black olive with a very harmonious finish. This is a gorgeous, ravishing Shiraz to savour " - NM Robert Parker

ageing : Up to 10 years from vintage

in the vineyard : 2007 was the smallest crop since 1998. As a consequence the vintage was early. Vintage itself turned out to be cooler than the average, with many cloudy, overcast days. These conditions produced Shiraz lots with wonderful elegance and perfumed fruit.af

in the cellar : 22 months in 50% new &50% 2nd fill French Oak (225 li)
