KC Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot 2009

Visually appealing due to the depth and density of its colour. The nose combines wonderful bright fruited Merlot elements with overtones of cedar wood and cigar box. The palate is tautly structured yet displays mid-palate fruit sweetness and generous palate weight, finishing on a classy savoury note.

in the vineyard : Forward thinking has taken form in a second tier of reds, blended with Helderberg fruit and bottled under the label KC. "This allows us to elevate the quality and status of our premium red wines, reserving the very best parcels of vineyard for the Marlbrook and Klein Constantia Cabernet Sauvignon ranges," explains Adam.

General
The KC range is made with the modern consumer in mind. Through the use of innovative production techniques and sourcing of high quality grapes from throughout the Cape Winelands we aim to make an approachable yet high quality wine which is ready to drink on purchase, yet will benefit from an additional few years of bottle maturation.

in the cellar : Fermentation and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks and French oak barriques. Selected components were matured using micro-oxygenation techniques, whilst the remainders were barrel matured for a period of 24 months. Bottling took place in June 2010.
