KC Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot 2011

Enticingly fruity yet classic style. Intriguing nose of sweet dark cherries and black forest cake with hints of cinnamon spice. A palate of big rich dense fruit is complemented by a very soft but vibrant tanning flowing for a serious red that is also very drinking.

in the vineyard : The KC Range aims to over produce on quality while still producing light, fresh, easy-drinking wines. We have combined some great vineyards from regions around the Western Cape to produce these wines. For structure and finesse, fruit was selected from both the Helderberg and Simonsberg mountains in Stellenbosch. This was combined with merlot from Elgin to add pure rich red fruit into the blend.

in the cellar : The wine is made in a different style to our Klein Constantia reds with the focus being on fruit expression and easy drinkability and it involved less time in oak (only 16 months) and less extraction during fermentation. Some Klein Constantia Malbec was also added to blend to further express the complex nature of this wine.
