Ataraxia Sauvignon Blanc 2013

Painstaking fruit selection and skilled winemaking using reductive cellar techniques has resulted in our Sauvignon Blanc seamlessly incorporating the very best that the Old and New World styles have to offer. This wine favours individuality and minerality ahead of pure, pungent fruit, but still shows hints of passion fruit and citrus as well as green melon aromas. These are effortlessly reflected on the palate and are complemented by a lively acidity which underpins a classy structure and succulent texture. A wine of substantial poise, length and charm.

The Sauvignon Banc was able to accumulate exquisite fruit flavours as a result, producing a wine that expresses itself in an intriguing, restrained mélange of aromas and flavours.

AWARDS
2012 4½ stars - Platter's South African Wine Guide 2012

in the vineyard : Each year, the beginning of the picking season is eagerly anticipated because it is the culmination of a season of intensive vine nurturing and care. Excellent winter rains saturated the ground water table and although December and January saw some dry, warm spells, late rains in early February replenished soil moisture resulting in an effortless physiological ripening of the fruit. Mild day time temperatures and especially chilly night time temperatures during the latter phases of the season ensured a long and even fruit hang time on the vine.

about the harvest: Hand picked and rushed to the cellar on the 12th March (a full three weeks later than the 2012 harvest!).

in the cellar : All our fruit was safely in by mid-morning, guaranteeing that the exciting fruit flavours of the grape were preserved and reflected in this wine.
