Morgenster Nabucco 2011

Colour: Concentrated bright pomegranate red.
Nose: An introduction of sweet red and black cherries, rose petal notes and hints of ripe tomato and cinnamon spice. There are hints of teas and herbs, leading with mint and lilac.
Palate: The superb balance between the sweet spice and sweet fruit, together with the cherry, cranberry type tanginess, makes for a very thought provoking and appealing palate.

Enjoy with every type of dish, from savoury risotto and Florentine beef to sweet tantalizing cheeses and dark chocolate soufflés.

ageing : This wine will still be offering much pleasure at age 20.br /

in the vineyard : Owner Giulio Bertrand continues to produce limited quantities of excellent Italian wines in South Africa from Italian varieties. The 2011 vintage of Nabucco, one of Morgenster's three Italian Collection opera themed wines, is the eighth from his prized Nebbiolo vineyard and is 100% Nebbiolo.

Winemaker Henry Kotzé says he approached the 2011 vintage with new eyes, having visited Italy on a couple of occasions to meet the iconic producers in Piedmont to gain insights into what Nebbiolo can do. The result is a complete wine with heaps of elegance and essence and great underlying power from the cultivar. This elegant, deeply nuanced wine will need a few years to come together and will still offer much pleasure at age 20. It would seem that this most noble Italian cultivar is at home in the worlds richest floral kingdom.

Vineyard: Stellenbosch
Region: Helderberg ward
