Muratie Isabella Chardonnay 2013

This complex and intriguing wine starts to bewitch and beguile your senses before the glass is even raised. Breathe in the heady scents of caramelized pineapples, hazelnuts, citrus fruit and cream before taking a mouthful of ripe, yellow tropical fruits, marmalade and lemon meringue pie flavours supported by creamy spice and vanilla all of which linger together into a endless finish.

Treat this wine reverently and pair it with only the very best – perhaps the freshest of fish, simply grilled with a fragrant, homemade lemon butter.

ageing : A beautifully-balanced wine with plenty of ageing potential to come, but masses of drinking pleasure right now.

about the harvest: Named after the beautiful Isabella Melck, the grapes for this wine were hand harvested before being whole-bunch pressed.

in the cellar :
The free run juice is chilled to about 8º Celsius for 2 days. The clear juice is then taken off and pumped into 500 litre barrels where it undergoes natural fermentation.

After the alcoholic fermentation the wine underwent 100% malolactic fermentation and spent ten months in wood before racked and blended. It was then stabilised for a month before it was bottled and labelled.
