in the vineyard : Vintage 2015 presented a notable, flawless crop of very happy grapes. Weather conditions were unusually kind, a situation almost in total contrast to 2014 but thankfully a situation which reminded us of the fact that weather patterns can also be kind! The vintage was early, mimicking 2004 which illustrates that vintages have personalities of their own.

in the cellar : The easy drinking nature of Sauvignon Blanc makes it every ones favourite. This appeal is backed by our cautious approach in ensuring a comfortable balance between fruit maturity and accommodating acid balance in the final crafting of this wine. In this respect the maturity of our vines plays an important part in presenting designer fruit of targeted structure and elegance, our first plantings date back to 1990. A further ameliorating factor is our viticulture approach of planting our vines close together, thereby mimicking the past where vineyards were tended by horses and not the modern day tractor which means 65% of our vineyard lands are free of wheeled tractors.
