in the vineyard : The wine is made from a combination of 10 year old vines and 24 year old vines. The soil is sandy over a deep yellow clay base, restricting yield naturally, thus providing good quality grapes that ripen easily without losing too much of their natural acid. Irrigation is supplied in very dry summers, thus enabling the grapes to ripen easily without placing undue stress on the vines.
in the cellar : The wine matured for 18 months in 76% French 225l New barrels, 14% Russian 225l New barrels, 10% 2nd Fill French 225l barrels. A small percentage of Cabernet Franc has been included into this wine.
The wine was bottled on the 13/01/2000.
