in the vineyard : Climate: Exceptional quality wines were made from the 2006 harvest. It was warm to very warm with dry periods during ripening and harvest. Vineyard growth was restricted by wind, which resulted in smaller, concentrated berries. This favoured the production of top quality wines with concentrated flavours.

About the area: South Africa's vineyards are mostly situated in the Western Cape near the coast. This is the southernmost region of the African continent, and has a Mediterranean type climate with diverse soils, perfectly suited to quality grape production.

about the harvest: Merlot grapes were harvested at optimal ripeness.

in the cellar : The juice was fermented dry on the skins. The wine was matured in 300 liter French oak barrels for 14 - 16 months. The wine was then bottled.
