While this label has been in existence for over twenty years its popularity has never receded, with perhaps its keenest endorsement arising out of its recent listing to the famous Moulin Rouge cabaret theatre in Paris, France.

The philosophy behind Blanc de Mer is a white wine for all occasions. By definition of its cultivar mix it is different and stands alone in the context of Cape white wine blends where no other Riesling dominant mix is available! While it is price effective it is not humble in its quality or status.

in the vineyard : Another wet and consequently cool summer …but a cracker of a vintage for white wine! Bright Fruit and intense structure with strong legs and notable body. The Riesling component is now dominant.

in the cellar : Blanc de Mer offers more than it portrays and its Riesling pedigree boasts loads of strong personality. It is an unusual blend from the Cape where Riesling is virtually unknown as a blending partner. Twenty four years of tradition with this wine maintaining the same style and character and sticking to a happy recipe once again captures the welcoming tones of pear, plums and custard apple. Composition has Riesling at 69% Viognier at 24% Chardonnay at 4% and Chenin Blanc at 3%. Perhaps a deviation from past vintages in that we no longer have Sauvignon and Semillion in the composition.
