ageing : Well structured elegant wine that will continue to develop for the next 8 to 12 years.

in the vineyard : The wine is made from 23 year old vines grown on a single wire trellis system. The soil is sandy over a deep yellow clay base, restricting yield naturally, thus providing good quality grapes that ripen easily without losing too much of their natural acid. Irrigation is supplied in very dry summers, thus enabling the grapes to ripen easily without placing undue stress on the vines. 8% Shiraz of the 1998 vintage added from a young, very promising vineyard.

about the harvest: The grapes were harvested on the 23/02/1998 at 24º Balling.

in the cellar : The wine underwent maturation in 100% French 225 litre barrels. The wine was bottled on 14/01/2000.
