Groot Constantia Merlot Shiraz 2002

A blend of Nobel varietals, Merlot 60% and 40% Shiraz. Deep plum colour with delicious cocoa/coffee bouquet with inviting black cherry as well as a combination of smoked bacon kips and pepper aromas. The wine is prepared in a medium to full bodied style and the blending has been done after maturation.

Oxtail potjie, lamb knuckles with garlic and lentils, leg of venison studded with bacon.

in the vineyard : Climate: Mediterranean - wonderful cool breezes coming from the Atlantic Ocean. With an average rainfall of 1100mm per annum.

about the harvest: The grapes were picked at 24 - 25º Balling.

in the cellar : Fermented dry on the skins separately and therafter aged in small French oak barrels for 12 months, 2nd and 3rd fill barrels.
